Description:
Geomorphological observations lead us to conclude that the Transantarctic Mountains rose from an Early Tertiary peneplain in two main phases of uplift in Oligocene and Pliocene-Pleistocene times. The history of glaciation in the McMurdo oasis must be revised with due regard for long and continued tectonic uplifts.
