The viable counts of portions of the microbial communities of the water column of Lake Bonney and associated glacial meltstreams in south Victoria Land, were monitored at regular intervals during two consecutive austral summers. Community fluctuations in the water column correlate with the period of input from the meltsream flow into the lake.
