Description:
High gradient magnetic anomalies in the dry valleys area are caused by Jurassic dolerite sills in the uplands which are more resistant to erosion than the country rock. Low magnetic relief is associated with the Precambrian to Ordovician basement complex which has a large surface exposure along the coast and in the lower reaches of the valleys.
