Description: 
The drill sites is over the deepest part of the lake. Drilling on DVDP 3 started 13 November 1973 and proceeded, with several interruptions through 26 November 1973. Casing was set through the lake ice to the bottom of the lake, approximately 68m below the ice surfact. After drilling approximately 4.25m the casing broke. About 21.3m of casing fell to the lake floor and was lost. A second hole, DVDP 4A was begun 17 November and was successfully completed into basement rock. Core recovery was over 95% of NQ size core, 47.7mm.
